CHAPTER NEWS
 NEW: MEETING REGISTRATION POLICY We have modified our Registration Policy. You are now REQUIRED to clearly note 'Meeting Only' or 'Meeting with Dinner' (including your meal choice of vegetarian or non-vegetarian entree). If you do not indicate 'Meeting Only' or 'Meeting with Dinner' you will automatically be considered a "Meeting Only" attendee - NO EXCEPTIONS. The Sheraton Hotel requires us to give a final meal count by noon on the Monday before our meeting. In order to comply with this requirement, we will no longer accept RSVPs for Meeting with Dinner after 5:00pm on the Friday before the meeting (July 3rd for the July 8th meeting). |

TOPIC How to Effectively Use Social Networking
David Peck has been active in new media & online communities since 2004. One of the early adopters of virtual worlds, he created the online persona of Britney Mason. As the Britney character he quickly built online buzz and became a featured user by such sites as: Twitter, MySpace,PodShow, Utterz, Blip.tv, and PodcastReady among many others.
He has helped build online communities for such companies such as UC Berkeley, Harvard, Coca Cola and Wells Fargo. Dave has worked as a Social Media Strategist on projects for The Grammys, The Ozzy Osbourne Auction, George Lynch and NPR. The TV networks CNBC and Current tv have profiled him for his social media work as well as online community building.
David will be speaking about how to effectively use social networking (Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, etc) in your professional careers. He will provide some great tips/tricks to use, some easy "how to" instructions and how to incorporate your own personal branding into the web 2.0 sphere. Using the Case Study "Obama vs McCain, we will look at the social networking tools one can use to how increase views of online content. "A Citizen's Cry," which targeted young voters, garnered more than five million views and over three thousand comments. Dave will discuss how he did it and how online communties were used to drive action, buzz and increase community around the content. David will guide us through all the tricks/tips to be sucessful in social networking and how to use your own personal brading in the online communities.
